OXFORD — The Southeastern Conference and the Ole Miss men’s basketball program announced adjustments to their schedule on Thursday, changing the location for their two games with Vanderbilt.
Originally set to be played in the SJB Pavilion in Oxford, Saturday’s game will now be played in Nashville and tip off at 5 p.m.
The second matchup between Ole Miss and Vanderbilt will take place on March 3 or March 4 and will now be played in Oxford. TV broadcast details for each game are yet to be determined. Date and time for the March matchup in Oxford will be determined at a later date as well.
All tickets purchased for the Jan. 31 game will be honored at the rescheduled home game versus Vanderbilt in March.
The change comes after Winter Storm Fern caused widespread damage, power outages, and travel difficulties across north Mississippi and Tennessee. Ole Miss recently announced the university will be closed through Feb. 8.
Interstates 55 and 22 in north Mississippi were both closed Thursday so Mississippi Department of Transportation workers could clear ice and disabled vehicles from the roadway. I-55 was closed for nearly 50 miles from Batesville to the Tennessee state line.
Ole Miss also postponed and relocated its women’s basketball game against Vanderbilt this week. Originally scheduled for Thursday in Oxford, it will now be played Friday at 2 p.m. in Birmingham.
Two other women’s home games, against Tennessee and Auburn, were also postponed. No makeup date has been announced for the game against Tennessee. The Auburn game is tentatively rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. in Oxford.
Alcorn State’s women’s basketball team also postponed its road game at Grambling. Originally scheduled for Thursday, it will now be played as the first half of a men’s-women’s doubleheader on Feb. 2 at 5 p.m.
